Caterpillar - DPF MAINTENANCE

Service the following:

• SOOT/ASH CLEAN THE DPF CORE. 

• SOOT CLEAN THE DOC CORE.

• CORE RETENTION

  • Ensure no loss in "DPF CORE RETENTION" and "DOC CORE RETENTION". 

• DPF DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSOR TUBING

  • Clear the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor TUBING of any soot blockage. 

• ARD HEAD & HARDWARE

  • ​Replace the DPF ARD HEAD, SPARK PLUG, BASE GASKET, and CGI GASKET. 

• EXHAUST LEAKS - INSPECTION

  • Check for any Exhaust Leaks in the entire exhaust system, repair as needed. When ARD Head is removed, inspect down the exhaust to ensure the Flame Tube is still in-tact. 

• DPF FUELING SYSTEM & CGI SYSTEM 

  • ​Test & Inspect the GCI SOLENOID VALVE & FUEL SOLENOID VALVES (Pilot/Main) via CAT ET, and ensure all are cycling correctly.

• DPF SENSORS

  • Test & Inspect the Exhaust Temperature Sensors and DPF Differential Pressure Sensor to ensure reading correctly. 

• ENGINE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM

  • Using CAT ET, run the Air System Verification Test (ASVT) to ensure passing values - compare against CAT Spreadsheet. The Cat twin-turbo's do fail over time, and will not provide the correct boost pressure - which is required for proper DPF REGEN Flame Ignition. 

• OIL ENTRY INTO ENGINE INTAKE & CAC - INSPECTION

  • ​Inspect the Engine Intake and CAC for Oil Entry, or Air (Boost) Leaks as the DPF System will run poorly. 

• FAULTS (ENGINE & DPF) - INSPECTION

  • Inspect all Faults, Logged Events, Active Faults, etc., make repairs as needed to ensure no elevated levels of engine soot production.

• CLEAR ALL FAULTS

  • Any Active Fault will stop all DPF/SCR Function. 

• DPF PARKED REGEN

  • Perform a DPF Parked REGEN and ensure there is proper ignition and Flame Temperature rises to over 1,000F, and REGEN runs to successful completion via CAT ET.
