**Due to common problems with Fuel Dilution from Cylinder Washout on MaxxForce engines, highly recommend that the Oil Level is checked daily, and oil is changed when the oil level raises more than 10%, as major engine damage will occur!

Replace the following:​

  • ENGINE OIL, OIL FILTER


 

Service the following:​​​

  • INSPECT THE CAC (CLEAN AS NEEDED - IF OIL DISCOVERED)

  • INSPECT THE EGR VALVE & SYSTEM (REMOVE AND CLEAN AS NEEDED - IF HEAVY OIL/SOOT DISCOVERED)

  • ​CHECK FOR EXCESSIVE OIL COMING FROM THE CENTRIFUGICAL CRANKCASE FILTER INTO ENGINE INTAKE, REPLACE CRANKCASE FILTER ASSEMBLY AS NEEDED, AND CLEAN ALL OIL FROM INTAKE, CAC, EGR, ETC.

  • INSPECT THE EGR COOLER FOR SOOT BLOCKAGE, CLEAN AS NEEDED.

  • SERVICE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (SEE "DPF MAINTENANCE" FOR DETAILS) 

  • CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL - HIGH OIL LEVEL IS GENERALLY CAUSED BY FUEL DILLUTION, A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MAXXFORCE ENGINES

  • USING N.E.D. TEST THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP & SYSTEM WHEN ENGINE IS COLD - AT ENGINE CRANKING MONITOR THE TIME TAKEN FOR INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE (ICP) TO REACH ~900PSI AND THE ENGINE STARTS, A GOOD RUNNING ENGINE WILL REACH ~900PSI WITHIN ~3 SECONDS

  • CHECK FOR EXCESSIVE OIL COMING FROM THE CENTRIFUGICAL CRANKCASE FILTER INTO ENGINE INTAKE, REPLACE CRANKCASE FILTER ASSEMBLY AS NEEDED, AND CLEAN ALL OIL FROM INTAKE, CAC, EGR, ETC.

  • TEST AND INSPECT THE INTAKE THROTTLE VALVE VIA N.E.D. SOFTWARE (ITV IS REQUIRED FOR PROPER DPF REGENERATION)

  • INSPECT THE CAC (CLEAN AS NEEDED - IF OIL DISCOVERED)

  • INSPECT THE EGR VALVE & SYSTEM (REMOVE AND CLEAN AS NEEDED - IF HEAVY OIL/SOOT DISCOVERED)

  • INSPECT THE DPF DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSOR TUBING & WIRING HARNESS FOR CRACKS AND DAMAGE, REPLACE AS NEEDED

  • INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR ANY LEAKS OR DAMAGE, REPAIR AS NEEDED

  • STEAM CLEAN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND COMPARTMENT

  • ​WHILE REPLACING FUEL INJECTORS, CHECK FOR ANY ADDITIONAL ENGINE OR DPF DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY CYLINDER WASHOUT AND FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS

  • CONSIDER COMPLETING VALVE ADJUSTMENT WHILE HAVE ACCESS (REPLACING FUEL INJECTORS)
